When visiting Sea Breeze wear decent shoes, getting to the beach and some of the interesting sites will take you through mud and brush. Also, be prepared with bug spray as the green head bees can be very aggressive. When I went, the green heads were swarming our car before we even opened our doors.
Sea Breeze, NJ was once a thriving beach resort town on the Delaware Bay side of the state. People from Philadelphia used to take a steamboat to Sea Breeze to vacation. There have been two hotels that had been built here, both of which burned down. There are a couple of vacation homes still in use, be sure to avoid them, They are to the right of the road going in. There are also a couple of small vacant houses left standing. Please be careful exploring.
This one building I believe blew on it's side during Hurricane Sandy. Google with show some images of the building upright.
The state built a sea wall along Beach Avenue to protect the homes, but a nor'easter in 2007 wiped out much of it.
There is much to explore and see, including nature...
Horseshoe crabs were abundant. My daughter named this one Tommy.
Some hidden structures, covered by overgrowth...
Beautiful views.
I will definitely be visiting Sea Breeze again. Until next time...
I grew up in one of the homes there in Sea Breeze. It wAs nice place for kids to grow up. We always had fun. Our parents taught us to fish, crab in the front bay. I'm going to miss it.
